Welcome

Located in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, Comtra Theatre provides year round live performances featuring volunteer actors from the community. Comtra was founded in 1983 by Marie Teets and takes its name from theater’s comedy and tragedy masks.

The original theater group performed in a tent set up in a parking lot and eventually moved to an old barn along Route 19. The barn was renovated into a theatre in the round, allowing guests to sit on all sides. This theater in the round has been our format ever since and provides an intimate and unique experience for theater patrons.

True to our name, we perform comedies, tragedies, dramas, mysteries, musicals and children’s theater. We provide theatre in the round all year ’round. There is always something on our stage with the exception of a few weeks during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to inspire, enrich, entertain and educate our community through exceptional theatrical arts in an intimate setting in the round. We believe in offering diverse programs that are inclusive and that have meaningful impact on our citizens. We like to think of Comtra Cultural Center as Cranberry’s own “Art Mecca”, where we inspire both children and adults, and build understanding and the different cultures in our community.

Marie Teets

Our brightest Spotlight at Comtra Theatre has gone out. Marie grew peacefully, fainter, and faded, but has moved towards an even stronger more magnificent Light and is on the stage of Eternity. To all of us who have ever worked at Comtra, we know it will never be the same without that one perfectly brilliant Spotlight. But we will still feel its warmth, forever. Rest In Peace our dear beloved Marie. She left this world around 10:00 a.m. Sunday (2/10/2013) morning and we all have another angel to watch us on stage!
